Nutritional programs
The main goal of the nutritional education programs (such as food recommendations and public health campaigns) in Ireland is to promote health and healthy living among the Irish population. They also aim to make people aware of their health and eating habits.
Health and healthy living are very important because of the possible diseases you can get if you, for example, eat too much (red) meat or saturated fats. Irish people eat a lot of meat and their daily intake of fat is slightly too high.
Relevant organizations
In Ireland there are a couple of organizations which are concerned with nutrition. There is the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), Safefood and Nutrition and Health Foundation . There are also other small organizations which are concerned with nutrition and the relationship with certain diseases. The FSAI is responsible for the food safety legislation in Ireland. The Safefood is responsible for promoting the awareness and knowledge of food safety and nutrition on the island of Ireland (Ireland and Northern Ireland). Nutrition and Health communicate on nutrition, health and physical activity in Ireland.
